Serious illness rare in fully vaccinated individuals.
With roughly half the adult population having received at least one dose, the United States is advancing its vaccination efforts as other nations have suffered viral relapses. Countries like France, India, and Japan have reported increases in infections, and the worldwide total death rate is nearing 3 million. In some regions, lockdowns and stay-at-home orders have been reimplemented.
Even with the strides in vaccination rates in the United States, the CDC has cautioned Americans to remain vigilant. Daily infections have reportedly increased as COVID mandates lift across the country. CDC Director Walensky has expressed concerns of a resurgence of cases if individual efforts are lessened before the entire country is vaccinated.
